The streets of Tortuga were crowed tonight. Pirates ransaked the town and wenches waited on the streets and in pubs for a client. Sapphira followed in the footsteps of her mentor, Mina. She was relatively new to the business, having just recently grown old enough. She trailed behind her while she walked through the dirt roads and rum soaked pirates. They entered a pub together and found themselves a table. Sapphira primped herself the best she could in her baby blue dress. It was tighter than most the dresses she owned and it pushed her breasts up higher. Clive, the owner of their brothel, had ordered her to wear it on her first few nights. He wanted her to look appealing to the men. She would be dumb to ignore his demands. Clive was the kind of man who would beat or rape a woman that talked back. She didn't want that kind of trouble.

Mina looked over at the young innocent blonde girl that stood beside her, desperatly trying to primp herself. She could tell the nerves where setting in. It wasn't an easy life, the one they both led. But Mina, having done it since she was seventeen herself, knew the ins and outs of the job. It was only five years ago, she could remember standing in Sapphira's spot, and now at the age of twenty, still a young woman, she felt seniority to this child. And it was strange to her that she felt the need to protect Sapphira like a sister, like she knew no one else would. "How are you feeling?" She whispered, placing a hand gently on Sapphira's shoulder.

Sapphira looked up at Mina with nervous eyes and gave her a small smile. She thought it was amusing how Mina knew her so well and they'd barely even spoke until five days before. She brushed her hair out of her eyes and sat up, trying to look confident. "I'm...worried. It's all so new to me. And I worry that...I won't find anyone and..have to face..." She raised her eyebrows, knowing Mina would understand who she meant. She shrugged and tried not to think about what she had to do. She began thinking of her mother again and wondered where she was. Her mother, Diane, gave her to a friend and left Tortuga with a sailor. At least, that's what she'd been told her whole life. She wasn't sure if it was true but, it's all she'd ever known/

Mina stared at Sapphira with a knowing look, "Try not to think about it." She tried to comfort the young her the best she could with what she knew, but there wasn't much she could say. Nothing she could do, but let Sapphira's first night run it's course and be there for her. "Just remember, look sharp and trust no one. Any thing these pirates say is a lie. You do your job and you leave. And never get emotionally attatched.. in any way. Anger, romance.. nothing. You hear me Sapphira? Theres so much you need to learn, but not all in one night. I'll give you all my knowledge, but not to overwhelm you... is this to much? I'm rambling..." Mina sighed. There was so much to tell the young girl. So much she needed to know. Mina just wished she could tell her everything now, but there was no time. They had a pub to work.

Sapphira listened closely and nodded. She understood what she meant by not getting emotionally attatched. They'd known a woman named Gloria who fell for a sailor and ran away with him. She tried to come crawling back to Clive with nothing but a torn dress and about a ship full of new lovers on her list. It wasn't smart for a wench to fall for someone or having any feelings towards them whatsoever. Things always ended badly. "No, it's fine. I think I've got it all." She rose to her feet slowly and smoothed out her skirts. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves. "Shall we make some money?" She added nervously to Mina.
Meanwhile, a certain pirate by the name of Captain Jack Sparrow was entered the same pub; his favorite: the Faithful Bride. Neither he nor Sapphira knew how much importance was held in that moment.

Mina nodded. "We'd better. The girls are a bit behind this week on Clive's pay, n' hes startin to get upset. So lets work our magic." She then straightened out her dress and grabbed Sapphira's hand to lead her through the pub full of drunken pirates. She kept her eyes out for one that looks like an easy client, not to aggressive or needy. Then there she spotted one.. or two pirates in a corner drinking an talking. She stopped. "Sapphira.. see them two gents in the corner. I'm gonna try you on one of 'em. The fellow with the dark dreadlocks looks a bit more advanced. I'll take 'im. You can try with the other fella, with the light hair across from 'im. Now we don' know if there lookin for what we offer, but theres no harm in puttin for a buisness. Besides they're lookin a bit lonely..." Mina gave her a small smile before pulling Sapphira behind her towards a back booth.

Sapphira smiled back, primped, and followed behind her. They got to the booth and Sapphira put on her best seductive smile. She'd practiced it many times in front of the mirror and other wenches. Now she was putting it to good use. The two men looked up and Sapphira decided to greet them. "Ello gentlemen. Havin' a nice evening?" She asked in a flirty voice. She resisted the urge to look to Mina for approval. She could feel her smile wavering as the nerves kicked in again and brushed her hair out of her face to hide it.
