I sat on the sand with my sister, unsure of what to do. We were practically strangers, only having met the day before. I watched as people gathered their things and was glad that I'd decided to bring only a carry on. It was much easier finding my bag. I just had to crawl over a couple dead bodies to get to it. That was a bit gruesome. I was lucky enough that my camera wasn't damaged. It was a really expensive camera and I would love to have it to pass the time. "Are you ok?" I asked Ava, looking at the brunette that was supposed to be my sister. I didn't see the resemblence.

I had grown up reading Lord of the Flies a hundred times. Desert islands always interested me because of that book, but now that I was actually on one... I wasn't so sure. I just hoped my time here wouldn't last that long, or end up like that group of boys did. I thought it was funny that was the book I decided to bring with me to read on the flight. It sat next to me now, almost mocking me. I didn't know where my bag was with my clothes in it; I could only find my carry on. I was also sitting with my sister, whom I just met. I didn't know anything about her, didn't even know I had a sister until I decided to sign up for those stupid ancestry sites and do some digging on my birth parents. I looked over at Adrienne. "All things considered, I guess. My head still hurts." I said, lightly placing my hand over the cut I had received when we crashed. "You?" I asked. I tried not to make things so awkward between us, but it was hard.

I looked at her with concern, hoping her cut wasn't too bad. Although I was pretty sure I heard someone say something about a doctor in the group so hopefully she'd be in good hands. I didn't need her dying from infection or anything like that. I still wanted to get to know her. I wanted to know if she had a better life than I did. "I'm ok. A little banged up, but I think I'll live." I said with a smile. I knew the bruise I'd gotten on my back would last a while but other than that and a few scrapes here and there, I was fine. It was surprising considering I'd just survived a plane crash. You'd think I would have lost an arm or something. "Do you think we should help them?" I asked her, looking to the others who were trying to gather supplies and luggage.

My cut had stopped bleeding a while ago, but I was too scared to have anyone look at it in case they'd tell me it was worse than I thought it was. Besides that, I had a few more cuts on my arms and legs, and my favorite pair of jeans were ripped, but I was pretty lucky. Especially since I had seen the way others looked, both alive and dead. I smiled back at my sister. "I'm glad," I said, and then looked over to where she was looking. "Sure. Who knows, I might find some of my stuff." I said, and stood up slowly as to not further injure my leg.

I stood up slowly as well, wincing as my back seared in pain. I smiled at her optimisim. "Yeah, there you go. I'll help you look for it." I said, linking arms with her as we walked towards the others. There was one man who looked like he was from the middle east that we stopped. "Hi, I'm Addie. This is my...sister," I stumbled over the word. It still felt weird saying it outloud. "Ava. We were wondering if there was anything we could do to help." He looked us both over, maybe determining how badly we were hurt and if we'd be any use.
"I'm Sayid. It's nice to meet you both." He said kindly before turning to gesture at the wreckage. "We've mostly been trying to get the luggage away from the crash site. Some of the women have begun trying to sort through it all. You could help with either if you'd like." He instructed, his eyes lingering on Ava.

I grimaced slightly when she linked her arm with mine. It was still sore, and it was a gesture I wasn't used to. Growing up with mainly guy friends, we didn't do things like that, like I had seen my girl friends doing. I looked around at everyone as we walked. Some of them were sitting around, trying to attend to the wounds of others, while others were praying or talking to each others. When we stopped, I listened to Addie introduce us. I looked over at the women he was talking about, but decided against helping those. Talking to women wasn't my strong point, again because of my upbringing. "Would you mind a girl helping out with the retrieval?" I asked, looking back at the man. Sayid...it was a strange name, at least one from a culture I wasn't used to, and it might take a while for me to get used to it. I noticed then how attractive he was, and looked away from him, back to the plane.

I looked at the way Ava was looking at Sayid. She seemed interested. I smiled at that and unlinked my arm from hers. She didn't seem to like that display of affection anyways. I glanced around for something occupy my time. I decided I wouldn't mind helping the ladies sort through the clothes. Maybe I would find something useful and in my size. Oh, that was a bad thing to say. Those clothes belonged to someone that was probably dead. I was going to hell.
"Well, I'll leave you to it then. I think my back would prefer if I sat down for a while." I said, smiling at my sister as I walked away. I headed in the direction of the women sorting and looked over at the plane while I walked. I wish I'd had my camera with me at that moment. It was a disastrous sight but it would make a beautiful picture with the smoke coming off of its remains.
"Hey, watch where you're going." I heard a gruff voice say as I bumped into them. They did a good job steadying themself but I wasn't as graceful. I was sure my face was as red as my hair as I fell flat on my ass and stared up at the man I'd run into. I didn't recognize him from the plane but then again I was too concerned with drilling my new sister with all sorts of questions to pay attention to who was around us.
