I sighed, wiping away a stray tear. "You're lying." I said, holding her in my arms. "I'm sorry, Lillian. But I promise everything will be better soon." I explained, stroking her hair. The barmaid came in and filled our tub before leaving, hardly looking at us. "Come on, get up and go take a bath, you'll feel better." I hoped she enjoyed it because I didn't know when she'd get a chance to bathe again.

I smiled at her, knowing she was right. Things would get better, it would just be hard for now. "We'll find where we belong, right Anna? And we'll always be together, please promise you won't leave me anywhere by myself." I said before going into the bathroom. I tested the water before getting in the tub, sinking in to my chin, feeling my muscles relax. My hands and knees stung but I tried not to let it bother me. "We'll have adventures, right?" I asked, trying to make myself feel better about agreeing to run away with her.

I smiled and kissed her temple. "I promise. I will always be by your side." I told her and followed her into the bathroom, washing my face in the mirror. "Of course we will. We're having an adventure right now." I told her with a smile.

I smiled back as I lifted myself out of the water enough to start washing myself. "Well, I hope it gets more entertaining, and less painful. My hands are stinging." I said. I knew I had managed to get a couple blisters, the cloth only protecting me so much. I knew my hands would have been far worse without the cloth.

I gave her a sympathetic smile. "Well, you could always drop the disguise and we can have the guys fall over us." I said teasingly. I helped her wash her back and kissed each of her palms. "I'm going to bed. Good night, Lilly." I said, kissing her forehead before going into our room. I was so tired after two days of working.

I smiled when she kissed my palms; I knew she was my sister and wouldn't let anything bad happen to me, and I was just starting to believe that. "Goodnight. I'll be in in a couple of minutes." I said, and finished bathing after she left. I would have stayed in the water for a bit afterwards, but it was so dirty I just decided to go lie down and sleep.

I woke up early in the morning and stretch. It felt nice to sleep in a bed again. I looked over to Lillian and smiled, seeing a peaceful look on her face. I leaned down and kissed her temple. I got up and changed into my men's clothing.

I woke up when I felt something brush against my temple. I stretched as I slowly opened my eyes, thinking everything that happened the past couple days was a dream since I was in a bed again, but as my eyes focused I saw my sister dressed like a man again. I groaned and rolled over, closing my eyes again. "Morning," I mumbled.

I chuckled at my sister. I knew she was hoping that everything was a dream but unfortunately, we still had a ways to go. "Did you sleep ok?" I asked her, pulling my hair into a braid before wrapping it in cloth. I pulled my boots on and sat on the bed next to her. I hoped she was ready for what we had to do today.

I sat up and shrugged. "Yes, but it would have been better if I woke up at home." I said, and sighed. "I'm sorry, I should stop... what do you have planned for today? What other... interesting... things are we going to be doing? Stealing our own ship, perhaps?" I joked.

I grinned at her. "Wouldn't that be lovely?" I teased and started brushing her hair before pulling it back. "We're going down to the docks to try to join a crew. If we're unable to find one, I'll put on a dress and flirt with some Captains to find out more about them and when they're leaving. Then you'll pretend to be my brother and take me away before they can get the wrong idea." I said, having thought of all of this last night. I rumaged through her bag and handed her a shirt and some trousers. "We'll have to bring our things with us in case we get lucky and find someone who's leaving this morning willing to take us aboard."

*skipping because i'm a loser and get stuck a lot*
Anna was right, we did end up on a pirate ship that day. It took a bit of looking around the dock to decide on a ship, depending on when it sailed. But we ended up on a ship with black sails; of course, I had a bad feeling about it. But, they said they needed deck hands and it was a passage away from Tortuga. Hopefully we'd end up in a better port, somewhere to make an honest life. "More deck scrubbing," I mumbled, looking at Anna.

((haha its ok baby))
I smiled at her as we started scrubbing the decks. "It's easier than the heavy lifting and ship work that neither o us know how to do." I said to her as I glanced up to the helm where the captain stood. Something about him was really familiar but I couldn't place it. He also seemed to be bickering with another man. Honestly, after looking at him I wasn't sure which one was the captain.

My hands were still sore from scrubbing the other ship, but Anna had a point. If they had us doing other things, we would be found out and treated like how Cutler told me pirates treat women. Like they're prizes to be passed around. "They seem to dislike each other," I stated, looking up at the two men at the helm. "As long as they don't continue on when I'm trying to sleep, it should be fine."

I nodded and stared at them a moment longer before someone yelled at us to keep working. He was a stout man with an odd looking beard that seemed more like rather large sideburns than a full beard. He also was mostly grey and carried around a small flask he took many drinks from. The way he acted and spoke to the crew made me wonder if he was the first mate. "I wonder who the captain is." I commented, mostly to myself as I scrubbed. My hands and knees were in so much pain from all the deck work we'd be doing recently. I was beginning to wish we could be assigned to something else as well but I knew it wasn't possible. There wasn't a lot on this ship that Lillian or myself, even, would be able to do with out attracting some unwanted attention.
