My hand instinctively went to my cheek; it burned slightly from the touch of her lips. It had felt like that when I kissed her, too. "Yes, well, I suppose Mrs. Lovett would be better for talking to, anyway." I said, turning away from her.
----------------------------------------------------
"Oh, I, well... my parents had just died and I was out on the streets begging, and when he saw me... he pitied me, you know? A young girl on her own and all." I said, and sweeped a large pile of dust towards the door. "And he told me he'd pay me, but it wasn't what I was expecting at all." I said, trailing off as tears sprang to my eyes. I didn't want to cry, not in front of Mrs. Lovett again.

I turned around and frowned. "I don't like seeing you upset all the time and I wish there was something I could do to make you happy. Or...that you could be happy...with me." I admitted, hoping he wouldn't reject me instantly. or tell me to leave.
-------------------
"I understand. I hate seeing such young folk out on the streets. 'Specially when it gets to be winter. London streets getting awfully cold to be out there." I said and gave her a smile. "I'm glad he took you in though.

I was taken back by her comment. She was beautiful, yes, but I had Lucy's memory... Lucy, who was dead, who wouldn't come back to yell at me or who wouldn't be upset with me. "But Lucy, and my daughter..." No, too many things needed to be set right before I could truly be happy. "When the judge is dead, maybe." I said, looking at the girl, hoping she wouldn't be too upset.
----------------------------------------
"Thank you, ma'am." I said, and wiped my eyes quickly. "I'm glad you were nice enough to take me in." I added, and begun sweeping again.

"Of course." I said, looing down at my feet. I did feel a little better after hearing him say that but I didn't know when he'd get the chance to take care of the bloody judge. "excuse me." I said as I grabbed the bottle of rum and turned to leave. I knew I would do what I could to help him find the judge.
------------------------
"Of course. I couldn' let ya live on the streets. I've got room in my parlor, I'd love to share it with you" I said with a cherry smile.

All of a sudden, I was overcome with the need to hug someone, and since Mrs. Lovett was the only one in the room, since I usually squeezed Toby to me until he couldn't breathe, I dropped the broom and ran over to hug her. "I'm sorry." I said, and as I pulled away, Rose walked in. She seemed upset. "Are you alright?" I asked.

I wiped my eyes as I walked into the meat shop. "Yeah, I'm alright." I glanced at Mrs. Lovett and saw her give me a knowing look. She understood how I felt because she'd been through it. Although, I didn't give up like she did. "Where's Toby?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

I noticed the exchange between Rose and Mrs. Lovett, but I didn't say anything since Rose brought up Toby. "The poor dear's gotten 'imself drunk. He's sleepin' on one of the couches." Mrs. Lovett said, and I shook my head. "He does it all the time." I said, and sighed. I wish he didn't, with him being so young.

I couldn't help but laugh as she said that. I went in to check on him for a second. "So where are you staying, Ella?" I asked her as I sat in one of our chairs.

I sat in a chair across from her. "The parlour. Mrs. Lovett said there's room for me and Toby." I said with a smile.

"On a couch? Why don't you come upstairs with me. Well, if you don't mind sharing a bed. I sleep in Mr. Todd's old room and the bed is rather large." I offered, it would give me some one to talk to and hopfully keep the nightmares away.

"Big enough for me and the boy? He never sleeps away from me." I said. Every time Pirelli tried to move him to the other end of the tent he would always crawl next to me. "Thank you. You all are so kind here!" I said with a large smile.

"Well, I don't know about that but we can see what he thinks. And we'll work on getting some new beds." I said, glad she was going to be around for a while. Mrs. Lovett was great company but she rambled more than she talked.

I smiled and nodded. "I've got a little money to my name. I'll help as much as I can." I said.

I smiled at her. "Ok. Well let me show you to our room then." I said and walked with her outside and upstairs. I had to force myself not to look into Mr. Todd's room and see him as his old depressed self...
